The Primacy of the Bishop of Rome in relation to Byzantine Chalcedonian Eastern Christianity

Here is a fascinating and thought-provoking article on the Primacy of the Bishop/Pope of Rome in Christian history in relation to the Chalcedonian/Byzantine form of Eastern Christianity that is commonly called the Eastern Orthodox Church which should be more properly called the Chalcedonian Eastern Church because like the Roman Catholic Church they accept the Christological definition of the Council of Chalcedon.

The Incarnation & Protestants

Here is a powerful video by renowned Catholic apologist Michael Voris on the Incarnation of Christ Jesus and it’s relationship with the Mystery of the Eucharist. The video also highlights the differences between Protestants and Catholics and emphasises the historic and patristic reality of the belief in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist that was faithfully held onto by the early Christians. Our brothers and sisters in the Faith defended this belief with their lives and for good reason.

Let us pray to our Lord for wisdom so that we may continue to walk with Him and not fall away from Him like the people in the Gospel of John who said: “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” and to this Jesus said: ““Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life within you.  He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.  As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me.  This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.”

The Publican and the Pharisee

Here is a thought-provoking exposition on the Jesus’s parable of the Publican and the Pharisee by the Chalcedonian Orthodox Saint: Gregory of Palamas.

Again, by means of indifference and laziness, he can make an attempt on the walls of virtue’s house just when they are being built up. Or he can bring down the roof of good works after its construction, by means of pride and madness. But stand firm, do not he alarmed, for a diligent man is even more ingenious in good things, and virtue has superior forces to deploy against evil. It has at its disposal supplies and support in battle from Him Who is all-powerful, Who in His goodness strengthens all lovers of virtue. So not only can virtue remain…

Let us experience the beauty of the Liturgy and rejoice as we ponder over the Epiphany of the Saviour of the world: Jesus Christ. Rejoice for the Ephiphany of the Christ has been made manifest this day!

In honour of our Lord Jesus Christ’s Epiphany (Manifestation) that is celebrated this day particularly among Chalcedonian and Non-Chalcedonian Orthodox Christians of the East as well as Catholics (both Western-Rite and Eastern-Rite) I’ve posted a couple of videos with Hymns commemorating the Feast of Epiphany. Let us meditate upon that most glorious and wonderful Mystery that is the Epiphany and Incarnation of our Lord and Saviour Jesus the Messiah. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit! Glory be to Jesus the Theanthropos, the Ladder of our Salvation! Glory be to Him who is the Son of David, the Son of Man, The Ancient of Days who was manifest upon earth in the flesh out of pure love for mankind! Glory be to you O Lord who art the Supreme Divine Lover of Humanity and All Creation! Hallelujah! Amen!
